“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” ~ Unknown
This post is about an amazing little boy, Christian Dale Paige, whom I was given the honor of photographing immediately after his birth on Monday August 18th, and then again 3 days later. Christian was diagnosed with a rare and fatal genetic defect called Trisomy 18 while he was still inside his mother’s womb. Christian’s amazing parents, Leah and Ryan “chose to celebrate his life…regardless of how little time we have with him…” Leah writes, “I’m carrying this precious life…just below my heart… knowing that he is going to die.” You can read more about Christian’s story on his blog: http://thenaplespaiges.blogspot.com
Leah contacted me a few days before Christian’s birth asking if I would be willing to photograph her beautiful little boy. I am affiliated with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, an organization of photographers who donate their time and services for families with children who pass too quickly through this world. For families overcome by grief and pain, the idea of photographing their baby may not immediately occur to them. Offering gentle and beautiful photography services in a compassionate and sensitive manner is the heart of this organization. The soft, gentle heirloom photographs of these beautiful babies are an important part of the healing process. They allow families to honor and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives.
The images posted here are of beautiful Christian Dale Paige. Christian came into this world on August 18th, 2008 and flew out of this world on the wings of an angel August 22nd, 2008.
