The Gopman Family (6.4.08)

The light during this beach session was incredibly colorful.  I have never seen the sky so pink.  You can see this especially the photo of the youngest Gopman laying on the beach.  I love this photo of her playing in the sand.  There is an image I shot just seconds earlier of her looking down which I also love.  These two images go well as a series together.

The photo of the two sisters together, playing in the water at a distance was taken almost 25 minutes after sunset.  The camera was set  at 800ISO, no flash.  The result feels more like a painting to me than a photograph.   I can see this image blown up huge, like 30×40.  It’s has such a innocent quality to the image.  When I say “Love Your Art” this is exactly what I mean.  To have your own children frozen in time like this and to have it captured in such a way.  I just love it!

Dylan & Zane (6.3.08)

These sweet boys were photographed a few weeks ago.  The image of Dylan between his mom’s feet is one of my new favorites.  I just love the feel of this photo.

The Press boys were some of the first to be photographed in my new studio and I love the look of the hardwood floor underneath little Dylan.

The studio  is challenging for me as I am used to photographing outside with natural light.  I am having to teach myself about studio lighting and backdrops and I have to say that the newness is really exciting for me!

The images are so fresh to me and I’m loving the work  I have produced so far in the studio.

Melissa & Chris (5.28.08)

This wedding took place at The La Playa Hotel this past weekend.  This hotel is absolutely one of my favorite places to photograph as it has such a wonderful “Old Florida” feel to it.  The flowers were beautiful at this wedding and were done by Botanicals On The Gulf of Naples. There are so many photos that I love from this wedding, like of my bride Melissa in the long narrow hallway of the hotel.  I like the depth perspective these images create.  The group photos on the rocks are also some of my favorites from the day simply because these were technically some of the hardest images I photographed during the day.   The sun was incredibly bright when we were photographing on the beach, so it was a real challenge to get the entire group exposed correctly and work with the harsh lighting conditions in such a short amount of time.   I also really like the photos from the reception.  This group of groomsmen were really a blast and they knew how to get the party going.  The photos of the guests dancing really capture the vibe of the whole party.  High energy!  This group knew how to have a good time and I think the photos we got really capture that feeling.

Sweet Baby Lucas! (5.23.08)

Sweet Lucas!

How fortunate I have had the opportunity to photograph Lucas’ beautiful mother Carla at the end of her pregnancy, and now I am able to complete the circle and photograph Lucas at one-week old.

The photos posted here on the blog are certainly some of my favorites.  I adore the photo of Lucas on the bench.  This image really puts into perspective just how small a newborn can be.  I also love the shots with Lucas and Carla on the white rug.  They feel very intimate to me.

The look in Carla’s eyes are so proud and strong.  She feels like a mother lion to me, watching over her cub.
